Sure, there is a bit of that vibe in this article, I'll admit. Pretty much any "Stop doing this..." article does. Really, this is meant as a tongue-in-cheek way to question what seems to be a common, yet IMHO ill-thought-out, industry pattern.
With that said, we seem to be settling on configuring our IDEs to translate tabs (easier to type) into a fixed number of spaces (better consistency, easier diffs, etc). Why should we not then collectively settle on a standard for acronyms that leads to better legibility?
