It is definitely a shift in mindset to think this way, and in many ways a leap of faith. More than once, I’ve had junior engineers — as I sketch out how we want to approach our event-based microservices architecture — seem to understand the concept, and then ask, “but do people actually build systems this way?” I have to assure them that, yes, systems like this are built all the time, and they (generally) run just fine.
